WHY IS THE LIBRARY CLOSED?
The Library made the difficult decision to close after a great deal of consideration. The health and safety of our patrons and staff is our priority. The Library Board and the City have been staying on top of the evolving COVID-19 pandemic and have determined that, based on advice from the Centers for Disease Control, the WI Department of Health Services, and the Waukesha County Health Department, the best way we can protect our community is to close. By encouraging social distancing and helping to “flatten the curve,” we believe our actions will help our community stay safer and healthier.
ARE ANY OTHER LIBRARIES OPEN?
All Bridges libraries are closed. An updated list can be found on their website.
WHEN ARE YOU OPENING AGAIN?
Right now, the Library is closed until further notice. We will let patrons know when we plan to reopen with signs, on our website, on Facebook and Instagram, and on our phone message.
CAN I CHECK OUT MATERIALS?
Right now, we are not able to check out physical materials to patrons. You may check out digital materials from Libby/Overdrive, and you can enjoy magazines on Flipster. There are also a lot of other great digital materials available to you with your library card.
CAN I JUST PICK UP MY HOLDS REAL QUICK?
Sorry, this is not possible right now. We will keep your hold for you until seven days after the Library opens again.

HOW CAN I RENEW MY LIBRARY CARD WHILE YOU’RE CLOSED?
An active library card is needed to access online resources. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to renew your card. We will renew your card for 3 months so you can access digital library services during this time. You will have to come in or call us when we are open again to do a full 18 month renewal.
CAN I PICK UP TAX FORMS?
Tax forms will be available when we reopen. The April 15 tax filing deadline has been extended to July 15 for both federal and state returns.
WILL THE DMV BE AT THE LIBRARY WHILE YOU’RE CLOSED?
The DMV will not be at the Library through April. Please call (608) 264-7447 with DMV questions.
HOW IS THE UPCOMING ELECTION AFFECTED BY COVID-19?
Online registration to vote is extended until March 30, 2020, for the April 7, 2020 Spring Election. Residents are urged to request an absentee ballot online. City of Oconomowoc resident in-office absentee voting hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30-11:30 am, and Tuesday and Thursday 12:30-3:30 pm.
