REVIEW AND DISCUSSION
H. Kramer and staff searched for values on some of the artwork in our collection but have not found any information on many of the pieces. It is unknown whether some of the pieces are originals and some do not have any artist information on them to search.
B. Bleck suggested brining in a representative from Bailey’s Honor Auction & Estate Services to look at the artwork the library would like to remove from its collection and discuss the possibility of an online auction.
H. Schick and H. Kramer will look at the art pieces for authenticity and originality. L. Radder will update the full art inventory.
B. Bleck researched art lending collections. None of the libraries in the Bridges Library System have art collection. B. Bleck found that libraries that do have art collections she contacted have an issue with storage of the art pieces. She also raised the issue of funding for a lending art collection. H. Kramer suggested focusing on expanding the library’s collection of art related books. The committee decided improving the art book collection would be the area to focus on at this point in time.
The committee discussed holding an open house during Fall Gallery Night November 4, 2016. Committee members we encouraged to help promote and host the event. The committee will meet prior to November to plan the event.
B. Bleck reviewed the mission and purpose of the art committee. The committee agreed to meet as needed in the future based on specific art related projects and events planned at the library.
There being no further business to properly come before this committee, motion to adjourn was made by H. Schick, seconded by K. Nelson. Meeting adjourned at 6:43 p.m.
L. Radder, Recording Secretary
