1000 Books Before Kindergarten

1000 books before kindergarten

1000 Books Before Kindergarten encourages you to read 1,000 books with your child before they enter school. Reading together helps develop important pre-reading skills that provide a solid foundation that is key to school and learning success. Plus, sharing stories together is fun! It’s easy to get started.

How It Works

  1. Register at the Library Checkout Desk.
  2. Read with your child.
  3. Record the titles on your log.
If you read a book more than once, you can record it each time. Books read to your child at library storytime, a daycare, or by others also count!
  4. When you finish 100 books, bring your log to the Library and receive a small prize.
  5. Repeat steps 1-3 for every 100 books.

After finishing 1,000 books, your child receives a book and a certificate, and gets an awesome jumpstart on success in school.

We hope you will join in! Not only will your family benefit from the experience of reading books together, you will also share many special moments along the way.
