Meet Clementine: Our Wonderful Library Ambassador
One of the most popular residents at the Oconomowoc Public Library is Clementine, our charming bearded dragon and Animal Ambassador. Since officially joining the Library in September 2025, Clementine has become a favorite among visitors of all ages, bringing smiles, curiosity, and joy to everyone who stops by to see her.
The Friends of the Oconomowoc Public Library are proud to support Clementine and the Library’s Animal Ambassador program. Through the Friends’ ongoing sponsorship, Clementine receives the care, supplies, and habitat support she needs to thrive. This sponsorship helps ensure that Library patrons can continue to enjoy the unique educational and engagement opportunities that an Animal Ambassador provides.
Whether she’s climbing on her favorite rocks, splashing in her tank, darting around her enclosure, or enjoying a blueberry treat, Clementine is always entertaining. Her playful personality makes her a wonderful way to spark conversations, encourage learning, and create memorable experiences for children and families visiting the Library.
Clementine’s story began when she was generously donated by a local Army family who was relocating. After being cared for by Youth Services Librarian Lizzie Brazelton, Clementine stepped into her role as Animal Ambassador following the loss of Loki, the Library’s beloved previous ambassador.
Today, Clementine does much more than simply reside at the Library. She helps connect visitors with nature, inspires curiosity about reptiles and wildlife, and serves as a friendly presence throughout Library events and daily visits. Her popularity is a wonderful reminder of how Friends donations directly support programs and experiences that enrich our community.
The Friends are delighted to help make Clementine’s continued care possible and are grateful for the support of everyone who contributes to our mission. The next time you visit the Library, be sure to stop by and say hello to Clementine—the Wonderful Lizard of Oz!
