A Library Card Hits All the Right Notes This September

September is Library Card Sign-up Month, and there’s never been a better time to discover everything your library card can do.

Most people know a library card gives you access to books, but that’s just the beginning. Today’s libraries offer resources and experiences that support learning, creativity, entertainment, and connection for people of all ages.

Library Card Sign-up Month, an annual initiative of the American Library Association, encourages everyone to explore the many opportunities available through their local library. Since 1987, libraries across the country have celebrated the month by welcoming new cardholders and highlighting the value of library services.

This year’s theme, “A Library Card Hits All the Right Notes,” celebrates the many ways libraries help people learn, grow, and find inspiration. Whether you’re discovering a new favorite author, streaming a movie, attending a program, studying for a class, exploring a hobby, or building new skills, your library card opens the door.

At Oconomowoc Public Library, you’ll find:

Getting a library card is free, easy, and empowering. For students, it supports academic success. For adults, it offers opportunities for lifelong learning. For everyone, it provides access to trusted resources and a welcoming community space.

A library card hits all the right notes, and great music is meant to be shared. If you already have a library card, help someone else discover the benefits of membership. Encourage a friend, neighbor, or family member to sign up this September and find their own rhythm at OPL.

And if you don’t have a library card yet, what are you waiting for? September is the perfect opportunity to sign up and see what you’ve been missing.
